Abstract
625,227. Oil burners. SILENT GLOW OIL BURNER CORPORATION. June 25, 1947, No. 16804. Convention date, April 18, 1940. [Class 75(i)] A combustion tube oil burner of the kind in which a combustion chamber 29 is provided between outer and inner perforated tubes 27 and 25 which extend into an endless fuel channel surrounding an air opening 13 has the inner perforated tube 25 spaced slightly from the bottom 7 of the channel and spaced laterally a substantial amount from the inner side wall 11 of the fuel channel while a perforated plate 21 overlies the inner portion of the channel to provide an oil vaporizing chamber so that air can enter this vaporizing chamber to form a combustible mixture, the heat of the burner being freely conducted to this chamber and the combustion taking place at the bottom of the combustion chamber 29 after the mixture has passed through and beneath the bottom of the inner tube 25. Combustion may be commenced by lighting a corrugated asbestos wick 37 attached to the inside of the outer tube 27 by clips 39.
