Liquid-fuel burners.-A boiler furnace adapted to be fired by liquid fuel or exhaust gases from internal combustion engines comprises an air director 4 mounted on a flange 6 carrying a qua,rl 7 adapted to enter the furnace opening 9 in the rear wall 2 of the furnace front when the furnace is fired by a burner supported in the tube 5 carried by the front wall. The air supply to the director 4 is controlled by a valve 4<2> adapted to slide on the tube 5. When the furnace is fired by exhaust gases which enter by the passage 3, the director 4 and valve 4<2> are retracted by rods (not shown) into the recess 8 formed in the front wall of the furnace front.
