Abstract
645,917. Spray burners. CHAUVIER, J. I. G. June 10, 1948, No. 15624. Convention date, June 11, 1947. [Class 75(i)] [Also in Group XXIX] Liquid fuel is fed from a reservoir 4 to a reservoir 14 by a volumetric pump 13, or similar metering device, through a pipe 6 and a non-return valve 7. When it reaches a pre-determined level in the reservoir 14 a float 11 opens a valve 18 and air is drawn through an inlet 17 and branch pipe 8, and forced through the fuel forming a foam, or creates a pressure within the reservoir 14. A local fuel circulation is obtained by opening a valve 10 in a pipe 9. The foam and air under pressure are fed through pipes 19 and 20 respectively to a spray burner 22; the fuel passes between a sleeve 23 and an adjustable sleeve 24 and is atomized by the central air jet. The atomized jet passes into a Venturi within an adjustable sleeve 26, a variable amount of air being thereby drawn through orifices 25 to surround the jet.
