Abstract
210,584. Drogo, A. Dec. 11. 1922. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel; spray carburettors.-A constant proportion of air to fuel is maintained by placing the float chamber 1 and a well 8 in communication with the main air-inlet 6 by means of a Pitot tube 4 and a Darcy tube 17 respectively; the fuel passes through a small calibrated orifice 10 and is aerated as it is sucked through a calibrated nozzle 11 of a pipe 12 leading through a distributor 13 to the valve boxes or cylinders. The distributor 13 may be close to a hot part of the engine or inside the exhaust manifold. The pipe 12 may have a valve fixed to the spindle of the main air valve 16 so as to be closed with it. Instead of connecting the pipe 12 to the valve boxes or the cylinders it may enter the main air passage above the valve 16, but in this case heated air is admitted at a point 21. Specification 176,010 is referred to.
