Abstract
488,168. Making foam. WARIGINAIRE, L. Jan. 17, 1938, No. 1503. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1937. [Class 47 (ii)] A device for producing air foam comprises a nozzle 9 to which a foaming liquid is supplied, ports 10 through which air is sucked, and a pointed member or cone 11 of gradual taper which directs the liquid and air at a small angle against the surface of a cylindrical extension 13. The cone is adjustable with respect to the nozzle. A valvecontrolled inlet for a foam generator, such as a sulphonated fatty alcohol, may be provided in the nozzle. Foaming liquid may be stored in a reservoir 1, and be impregnated with carbon-dioxide and forced to the nozzle 9 by compressed gas from a bottle 2. Alternatively, water may be mixed with a foam generator in the reservoir 1 and be forced therefrom by means of water under pressure, or by means of a pump. The nozzle may be connected directly to a hose supplying water under pressure.
