[Class 29] For cooling hot gases, particularly those having a high water vapour content, a foam of another gas and liqui d is brought into indirect heatexchange relation therewith. Gas and liquid with or without foaming agents may be mixed by stirring apparatus or filter insertions, or the cooling gas may be delivered at great speed through one or more nozzles a screened by a deflecting plate b, the bubbles formed surrounding, as they ascend, the cooling tubes h through which the hot gases pass.
