Abstract

1356295 Activated sludge process AIR PRODUCTS & CHEMICALS Inc 1 June 1971 [1 June 1970] 18301/71 Heading C1C In an activated sludge process liquor in enclosed aeration chamber 10 maintained at superatmospheric pressure, is formed by device 42 into droplets 41 in the upper region 40 where they come into contact with an oxygen-rich gas supplied under pressure from source 46 through inlet 48. The pressure in the region 40 may be maintained at up to 10 atmos. Gas may be vented from region 40 and recycled through absorber 52 which removes undesirable gases, e.g. CO 2 generated in the chamber 10. The liquor is passed from primary settling tank 12 to aeration chamber 10 and then to secondary settling tank 14.
