Separating by gravity. -Water is separated from fuel oil in a cylindrical tower-like chamber A fitted with a steam coil B, heated oil being discharged through an outlet E near the top and water drawn off through a release valve F near the bottom. The inlet D for the mixture is preferably situated near the bottom. The valve F is preferably spring - closed and opened manually at intervals. The chamber may be lagged.
