Abstract
357,240. Gravity-separation apparatus. GREEN, E. W., Blackwall Yard, and UNTHANK, G. R., 10, Churston Gardens, New Southgate, both in London. June 19, 1930, No. 18794. [Class 46.] A device for separating oil from water comprises a closed tank a containing conical baffles d, e and an inlet pipe b and outlet pipe h which draws water from the bottom of the tank. The inlet pipe b is provided with a baffle c which distributes the contaminated water across the transverse area of the tank whereby the oil ascends into the conical baffle e and the water descends to the bottom of the tank from which it is drawn by the pipe h. The conical baffle e is perforated at g to permit any oil outside the baffle to pass to the inside. A heater l may be inserted in the baffle e. The water level may be ascertained by a test cock m.
