Abstract

360,143. Disinfecting-apparatus for water-waste preventers. WINFIELD, J., 39, Fitzjames Avenue, West Kensington, London. Oct. 1, 1930, No. 29398. [Class 26.] Apparatus for treating liquids with liquids (e.g. the water in a flushing cistern 4, Fig. 1, with disinfectant) comprises a container 1 from the bottom of which a tube 2 passes above the highest liquid level therein and thence downwards to a delivery pipe 3; the internal volume of the tube 2 being substantially less than the increase of volume of air in the tube 3 arising from the withdrawal of the liquid from the vessel 4 (e.g. on flushing). A cock 7 and a loose wick 6 may be provided whilst the portion 5 of the delivery tube may be of flexible material. In another form, Fig. 2, the tube 3 also communicates directly with the container 1 and is packed with compact material 9 to permit slow continuous treatment of the liquid in the vessel 4.
