429,285. Softening water. PIPER, W. H., and CLENSOL, Ltd., 75, Victoria Street, London. Dec. 7, 1933, No. 34450. [Class 46] A device for softening water suitable for connection in parallel with the rising main of a domestic supply comprises an outer casing 11 and an inner container 26 for soluble softening agent with an aperture 28 of such size that only a small part of the water passing through the casing can enter and leave the container. The casing is connected with the rising main 17 through inlet and outlet cocks 15, 22, both provided with constricting washers. The container 26 depends from a screwed on cover 24 of the casing and the bottom of the container is closed by a cap 27 attached to the container by a bayonet joint. The softening material used may be that described in Specification 398,348.
