Abstract
<PICT:0425621/III/1> A solvent-recovery plant comprises a plurality of annular perforated holders b for absorption material arranged in a common tank a. The air to be treated enters the tank by a valve situated in the centre of the top and after passing through the annular containers enters a manifold f above the tank leading to the fan. Baffles h may be <PICT:0425621/III/2> <PICT:0425621/III/3> placed between the inlet valve and the containers. Steam pipes i for indirect heating are provided in the central spaces of the annular containers and other pipes l admit steam directly into these spaces. Between the outlet manifold and the fan is a valve which is opened automatically by the suction of the fan during absorption, and is maintained closed by the pressure of the steam used in the regenerating period. The subject matter claimed in Specification 415,801 is disclaimed. Valves.--Fig. 4 illustrates an automatic valve for use in the outlet pipe. The poppet valve o<1> in the chamber o connected to the absorber closes by its own weight and is so maintained by the steam pressure in the absorber during regeneration. When the fan operates it applies suction to the disc s causing the valve o<1> to open. A small spring-loaded poppet valve r is held open by the rod s<1>, when the main valve is closed to admit air to operate the disc s.
