485,191. Heat - storing apparatus. J.P. TUBULAR HEATER CO., Ltd., and JACKSON, R. A. F. Sept. 22, 1937, No. 25699/36. [Class 64 (ii)] A thermal-storage apparatus for heating air comprises one or more containers 1 for heat - storing medium, e.g. water, glycerine or sand, with an air up-flow conduit 4 extending between the containers and a surrounding spaced heat-insulated casing 2, so that air driven up by a fan 13 over the containers passes down through conduits 6 extending centrally through or between the containers to an air outlet 7 at the lower part of the apparatus. An electric heater 8 and a thermostat 9 are placed in the container and an additional or alternative electric heater is placed in the down conduit 6. A thermostat in the room may control the fan, which may open a shutter or spring-pressed plate valve on the air inlet. Specification 21854/12, [Class 64 (ii)], is referred to.
