Abstract

<PICT:0375164/IV/1> In a device for introducing a gas into a liquid in which it is soluble, especially applicable for introducing acetylene into acetone in an acetylene reservoir, small quantities of gas are introduced intermittently by means of a valve adapted to open and close automatically. As shown, a chamber C interposed in the gas supply pipe A has a restricted inlet B and an outlet L controlled by a spring-loaded valve E. When the valve has been opened by the rise of pressure in the chamber, the gas passes by way of passage G and pipe H to the liquid reservoir. Gas also passes to the back of the valve through a passage I so that as the pressure falls in the chamber the valve automatically closes, and remains closed until the pressure is again built up in the chamber.
