Abstract
602,835. Raising liquid by gas pressure. GILMORE, H. Nov. 3, 1945, No. 29260. [Class 102 (ii)] In apparatus for raising liquid from' wells by means of a gas under pressure, the supply and exhaust of the gas to the liquid receiving chamber connected to the pipe 28 and passage K is controlled by an inlet valve 13 and an exhaust valve 23 carried by a rod 20, urged upwards by a spring 17. The inlet valve 13 has a seat 12 urged upward by a spring 14 and carried by a bellows 9. With the valves in the position. shown, the exhaust valve 23 is open and the liquid receiving chamber is exhausted through passage K and port P to the well casing and at the same time fills with liquid. The pressure of the gas supplied through passage B to the bellows 9 rises until it overcomes the spring 17 and the valve 13 is lifted a small amount and the valve 23 is closed. The spring 14 then raises the seat 12 against the abutment provided by the end of the sleeve 8 and gas under pressure flows to passage K and the liquid in the receiving chamber is raised through pipes 28 and C to the surface when the pressure falls and the valve 13 is closed and the valve 23 opened by the spring, 17 and the cycle is repeated.
