Abstract

737,198. Valves. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 19, 1954 [Feb. 27, 1953], No. 5492/53. Class 135. A pressure-regulating valve device comprises a casing with inlet and outlet nozzles 10, 4 respectively, a tiltable seat 17 for a tubular inlet valve 18a which slides in a fixed sleeve 5 and is urged towards its seat by a spring 24, and a relief valve 31 which seats on a flange21 formed on the end of the inlet valve, the relief valve being urged towards its seat, and the inlet valve being urged towards open position, by a spring 29. When the relief valve is opened, the fluid escapes through gauze-covered 'apertures 33 in the casing. The seat 17 is positioned by a stud 15 so that it can swing and adjust itself to the 'knife-edged closure of valve 18a. Relief valve 31 seats on a ring of soft or silicone rubber 22 inset into the seat. The piston-like extension of the relief valve is packed by a metal ring 27.
