Abstract

758,375. Valves. PYRENE CO., Ltd. Dec. 1. 1954 [Dec. 1, 1953], No. 33381/53. Class 135. A non-return valve comprises a body having an inlet 3 and an outlet 4, and a controlling member consisting of two pistons 10, 11, each formed of a pair of collars with a resilient 0-ring between them, mounted on a rod 9 the upper end of which projects through a plug 13 and indicates the position of the valve. The controlling member is urged to the closed position by a spring 12 and opened by the pressure of fluid on the underside of the piston 11. Fig. 2 shows a modification, suitable for CO 2 fireextinguishing apparatus, in which reversal of the fluid flow is possible and having an axial inlet port 14 in the plug 15, an outlet port 4, and a tubular insert 16 formed with flow passages 18 and into which the piston 11 may be pushed by the cap 27 on the rod 9 to permit flow from the port 4 to the port 14. The rod has a cross-pin 26 adapted to be engaged with slots 24 in the top of the valve body.
