Abstract

820,949. Valves. SEIFFERLE, O. March 14, 1956 [March 24, 1955], No. 7985/56. Class 135. A pressure regulator comprises a body 10 having an inlet passage 25, a regulating chamber 44 and an outlet passage 43. A butterfly valve 26 is positioned in the inlet passage 25 and is pivotally supported between its ends and has one of its arms 38 extending into the regulating chamber. The regulating chamber 44 carries a cylinder 45, extending laterally of the inlet passage which houses a piston 46 responsive to pressure in the chamber. The piston has an extending stem 48 with an intermediate guide portion 50 containing an annular groove 52 in its periphery. The annular groove engages with the end 68 of the butterfly valve 26 so that movement of the piston to the right tends to close the valve. The piston is urged in a valve-closing direction by a spring 58 housed in a cup member 62, which may be rotated to adjust the spring loading on the piston.
