Abstract
210,464. Akt.-Ges. Kummler & Matter. Jan. 29, 1923, [Convention date]. Incrustation, removing. -An annular heating element 6 for an evaporator is constructed with a gap 4 extending the whole height of the element. One side, at which steam enters as at 2, is rigidly supported while the other side of the gap is free to move under the pressure of steam to crack off any incrustation. The outlet 3 for condensate may be, as shown, on the same side as the steam inlet 2 or may be on the other side, in which case a flexible connection is provided. Means are described for limiting or preventing movement of the free end in either a radial or tangential direction, such means by their rubbing action also tending to prevent deposit in the gap.
