Water, distilling. - In preparing boiler feed water by distillation, steam from an evaporator is passed into a condenser which is cooled by the water of condensation from the main condenser together with a second supply of cooling water which is independent of the working of the engine. The condenser d<1> which receives steam from the evaporator c is divided into two parts or two separate condensers are used. One part is cooled bv water of condensation from the condenser b of a turbine a passing through a cock f and the other part by cooling water from the condenser b supplied through cock g<1>. The flow of cooling medium in the two parts may be interchanged by means of cocks f<1>, g.
