Abstract

Feed-water, supplying.-Raw water after passing through a heat exchanger 8 is delivered to a de-aerating chamber 1 where it is treated at about atmospheric pressure, with exhaust and other steam. Vapour and liberated gases pass by a pipe 6 to the coils 7 in the heat exchanger, where the steam is condensed and returned to the chamber 1 past a water seal 10 while the gases escape by the pipe 11. Heated water, instead of passing by the pipe 3 direct to the boiler may, as shown, be forced by the pump 19 to an evaporator 12 heated by live steam in the coil 13. Vapour is condensed in the chamber 15, and the condensate with the drain from the coil 13 passes to a further heater 17 and thence, through the coil in the condenser 15, to the boiler.
