[Class 49] [Also in Group XIII] Heating steam which is supplied through a pipe 3 to the heat-exchanger of a milk pasteurizing apparatus and which is superheated in passing through a pressurereducing valve 2 is desuperheated by spraying a small quantity of boiler water or condensed boiler steam through a nozzle 8 into a chamber 9 in the steam pipe. Steam flows through a branch 4 from the steam supply pipe into a water-cooled condenser 5, the condensate from which is discharged through the nozzle 8 under the control of a valve 7.
