Abstract
500,337. Loop-tube heat-exchangers. DOBBS, A. G., HUNTER, H., and WALLSEND SLIPWAY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 6, 1938, No. 232,60. [Class 64 (iii)] A combined liquid heater and steam desuperheater for heating liquid fuels, oils, chemicals or mixtures in which coal &c. is suspended, comprises a heating chamber 1 with a desuperheated steam inlet connection 12 and tubes 8 transversed by the liquid to be heated in passing from compartment 3 to compartment 4 of a header 2, and a chamber 10 in which condensate from the heating chamber is utilized to cool the heating steam before entry into the heating chamber. Superheated steam enters a coil 11 immersed in condensate through a valve 14, the other end of the coil being connected by a pipe 13 with the inlet 12. A condensate overflow branch 15 leading to a drain trap 16 is so located that the coil 11 is always immersed.
