Abstract
394,382. Indirectly-heated steam boilers. BAUMANN, K., Northwoodhouse, Barnfield, Urmston, Lancashire. Dec. 24, 1931, No. 35711. [Class 123 (ii).] In steam boilers comprising one or more steam and water drums and indirectly heated evaporators disposed below the drum level and connected to both the steam and water spaces thereof, the steam flow between evaporator and drum is controlled in accordance with the temperature at the evaporator outlet of the steam generated therein. Steam from a boiler drum 1 passes through a superheater 2 to the lower end of an evaporator 4, and through heating tubes 5 to a superheater 3 and thence to an outlet 24. Water circulation pipes 9, 12 connect the water spaces of the drum and evaporator, a baffle 14, 15, separating the evaporator inlet 10 and outlet 11. Steam passes between baffles 16, 17, 18 near the top of the evaporator through an outlet 19 to the steam space of the drum, the connecting pipe 20 having a cock 21 controlled by means of a thermostat 22 so as to cause the steam to be slightly superheated at the baffles 16, 17, 18. The cock 21 is also controlled in usual manner by means of a thermostat 23 at the final steam outlet.
