Abstract
503,782. Heating water; partitions in water-space. JACKSON BOILERS, Ltd., and MUSTILL, C. W. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27797. [Class 64 (i)] In a water heater of the type in which the draw-off tap 14 is connected to an expansion box 13 into which boiling water is carried by steam from an annular boiling space 10 formed between an inner casing 2 and a sleeve 9 in a water jacket 4 fed with water from a float valve chamber 5, gas rising from a burner 7 passing up through the inner casing, which has cross tubes or fins 8 to increase the heating surface, an annular sleeve 12 closing the top of the annular bolting space 10 directs boiling water through an orifice 11 into the expansion box 13, which is above the water level, so that it is drained through the orifice when ebullition ceases. The expansion box is formed integral with or removable from the boiling sleeve and has a weir 15 for overflow of hot water or escape of steam. The inner casing has watercontaining baffles 8 and is joined to the outer casing 1 by a readily separable joint 3.
