Abstract

241,961. Hawley, C. G. April 25, 1924. Water-tube boilers. -A boiler of the type comprising a radiant heat section of minor extent with widely spaced tubes and a convected heat section of major extent is constructed with the tubes of both sections substantially vertical. The drums B, C are connected to the drum A by a minor extent of widely spaced vertical tubes E and a major extent of closely spaced vertical tubes G respectively, the tubes E being situated in the tall combustion space 3 whilst the tubes G are separated therefrom by the baffle Y. The superheater S is placed behind the baffle. Instead of a steam drum D and a water drum B, a single drum may be used. The heating surface of the tubes E is preferably about one-tenth that of the tubes G. Specification 218,492 is referred to.
