Gaseous and pulverulent fuel furnaces.-A boiler having upper and lower drums connected by groups of water tubes is heated by pulverulent or gaseous fuel introduced through burners at the top of the combustion chamber, the gases passing downwardly around the tubes and drums to an outlet at the bottom of the chamber. Symmetrically arranged groups of drums 3-11 connected by tubes from two sides of a combustion chamber supplied with fuel through burners 13. The gases escape through feed-heating tubes 16, 17 connected to the bottom drums. The other two sides of the chamber may be formed by further water-tube boiler elements or by groups of superheating tubes. The chamber may be enclosed by three boiler elements or by two boiler elements and one group of superheating tubes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 243,922.
