Abstract
384,250. Motor power plant. RADFORD, S. C., 746, Algoma Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Aug. 10, 1932, No. 22427. [Class 110 (iii).] A plant comprises a boiler 5, a steam engine 7, an air compressor 19, an air engine 21, a closed condenser 11 for the steam, and a heat-exchanger 15. The path of the steam from the boiler 5 is through superheater 6, engine 7, condenser 11 to condensate pump 13 from which part passes by pipe 14 back to the boiler and part to the heat-exchanger 15 where it is heated and returned to the boiler by pipe 17 in the form of steam. The path of the air, starting at the exhaust of the air engine 21, is by pipe 22 to the condenser 11, where it condenses the steam in the steam circuit, then to a compressor 19 either direct or through a flue-heater 25. It is heated by the compression and then passes to the heat-exchanger 15, where it evaporates part of the condensate water. It is then used in the engine 21.
