Abstract

Combined jet and surface condensers.-In power plants employing superheated steam at a varying load the exhaust is mixed with, or exposed to, water before passing to a surface condenser. A jet of water, which may be part of the condensate, may be injected into the exhaust pipe before it enters the condenser or, as shown in Fig. 2, an open tank or tray k containing water, or moistened pumice &c., is arranged in a chamber b<2> between the exhaust pipe a and condenser b.
