Abstract

261,561. Wood, T. Dec. 18, 1925. Reciprocating sieves. - In screening-apparatus of the type which has a jigging or conveying movement, independent means are provided for imparting vibrations to the screen. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the screen frame 4 is supported on the fixed frame 1 by resilient members 7 and is actuated by an eccentric rod 14. A shaft 11 carries a ratchet shaped cam 17 which engages a steel plate 18 bolted to the screen and imparts rapid vibrations thereto. In a modification, the vibrating means may consist of a tappet device carried on a spring arm and actuated by a cam on the eccentric shaft 13. The screen 6, Fig. 3, is tensioned in the frame 4 by screws 9 arranged at one side.
