Abstract
333,333. Tyler Co., W. S. Oct. 4, 1928, [Convention date]. Sieves with compound motion.-In screening- apparatus of the kind in which the screen cloth 10, Figs. 1 and 3, is secured at its opposite ends by means which may be also used for tensioning it, the other edges being free, and in which a vibrator 25, such as rotary unbalanced weight, an electromagnetic device or mechanical hammers act directly on the screen cloth, the securing devices at one or both ends of the screen are mounted on the stationary frame 1, 2 in such a manner that the screen is capable of movement as a whole in addition to the vibratory movement. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the ends 13 of the screen cloth are hooked and engaged over bars 15, 16 which are connected by studs 17 to lugs 21 on the side of the frame and are adapted to be adjusted longitudinally for securing and tensioning the screen. In a modification the studs are replaced by spring strips one or both of which are carried by sliding blocks adjustably connected to the frame. Fig. 7 shows a further modification in which one end of the screen cloth 52 is secured to a rigidly supported bar 55 and the other end to a bar 53 supported by studs 54. The bar 55 is adjustable by one or more threaded studs 58 working in nuts carried by the frame end bar. In this modification a feed plate 60 is used to blank out the extreme upper end of the screen. Any required number of vibrators may be used in the length of the screen.
