Fixed sieves.-Vibrating mechanism for screening and other apparatus comprises a rotary shaft r Fig. 3 having one or more peripheral cams or projections r<1> adapted to coact with a cam plate t carried by a resiliently supported box s having a rod connection s<2> with the screen or other member and supported by springs u, v either or both of which are adjustable as by a screw plug w. A plate x on the box coacts with a stop plate y carried by an adjustable screw plug z to limit the extent of the vibrating movements. As applied to screening apparatus, the box in its casing p is mounted on the screen housing h which is adjustable to vary the inclination of the screeen. The rod s<2> is pivotally connected to bars 3 running longitudinally of the screen and clamping it between them. The tension of the screen is adjusted by fixing its opposite edges to bars b which lie behind projections c' on bars c each pivotally connected to a pair of nuts e, the opposite pairs of which coact with a right and left hand threaded bar f<1>. The ends of the bars b are cut away to fit lugs c<2> on the bars c.
