Abstract
509,590. Sifting-apparatus. PLOWRIGHT BROS., Ltd., and DIMBLEBY, T. E. March 12, 1938, No. 8095/39. Divided out of 512,893, [Group XXX]. [Class 117] A vibratory screen is suspended on or supported by members pivoted thereto and to fixed points, means being provided for varying the distance between the fixed points against spring pressure and a mechanism is provided for holding the said means against a further variation of the distance until a predetermined point in the travel of the screen is attained whereupon the spring energy is released to impart a jar to the screen. In the form shown, each rod 10 is pivoted to the screen frame 9 and to a lever 12 pivoted to the support 13 and has a sleeve acting on springs 14, Fig. 4, in a cylinder 15 pivoted at 15b to the frame 13. The screen is vibrated from eccentric 23 through rods 22 the cylinders 15 being correspondingly titled and for one direction of movement the pressure of the screw 17 carried by a projection on the cylinder causes the lever 12 to engage the catch 19, the spring 14 being compressed during the downward movement of lever 12 and rod 10. When the screen moves in the other direction a second stud 18 on the cylinder engages the catch 19 and releases the lever 12 enabling the spring 14 to force the rod 10 rapidly upwards. The arrangement may be modified to enable two screens to be suspended from a support.
