[Class 117] [Also in Group XXX] In screening or conveying apparatus of the type described in Specification 533,438 in which the screen &c. is reciprocated through the medium of a reciprocating mass or anvil to which it is connected by a spring so that at each cycle the screen &c. is successively separated from and brought into percussive contact with the mass, the latter k, Figs. 1, 4, is carried by a pivoted member l which is rocked by the rotary movement of an unbalanced weight p, and is cushioned by adjustable springs m so as to control its natural period of vibration. The screen &c. is supported on links t one pair of which carries a striker w and is connected to the anvil by springs v. The screen may comprise a number of decks, and the frame is provided with a cover h under which a current of air is promoted by the percussive action of the anvil to assist the passage of the material over the screen &c.
