Abstract

Class 117 [Also in Group XXIV] In a flour stock purifier sieves a and b supported by links f are oscillated by eccentrics c and d on a shaft e, and the sieves oscillate in unison with conveyers g and h to which they are connected by links i. The eccentrics are connected to the sieves by members j and the conveyers are supported by links m. A counterweight n of the same mass as the joint mass of the sieves and conveyers is suspended by links o between the sieves and is driven in opposite phase by an eccentric p. The joint centre of gravity of the sieves and conveyers is on or near that of the counterweight, and the motion of the latter lies on a line substantially parallel to the motion of the sieves. The purifier may comprise one oscillated sieve only, in which case the counter weight consists of two masses flanking the sieve sides and driven in opposite phase by two eccentrics on the drive shaft. In operation some of the stock falls through the sieves, some travels along them and overtails therefrom, and some is lifted by an air current drawn through the sieves and suitably collected.
