Abstract

861,912. Sifting apparatus. PAINTIN & NOTTINGHAM Ltd. Dec. 3, 1957 [Dec. 21, 1956], No. 37605/57. Class 117 A screen 2, Fig. 1, is suspended within a framework 4 by inclined pivoted hangers 3, and is reciprocated to urge material therealong by two connecting rods 6 having their lower ends pivotally attached to the screen and their upper ends connected to eccentric cranks on a driven shaft 8 mounted in bearings 15. Counter weighted flywheels 9 are fixed to the shaft which is driven by a motor 11 via a belt 12 and pulley 13. The screen mesh becomes progressively coarser from the feed end. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the framework supports two screens 2 each driven by a pair of connecting rods 6 connected to separate drive shafts 8 interconnected by a drive belt or chain. The motor 11 is connected to one of the shafts through a belt and pulley, and the arrangement of the eccentrics on the two shafts 8 is such that the screens are oscillated in opposition:
