Abstract

900,704. Screening apparatus. HALSTRICK, R. Nov. 11, 1958 [Nov. 11, 1957], No. 36159/68. Class 117. Screen boxes 1, 2, with screens 5 and 6 respectively, are oscillated by being mounted on a driven crank-shaft 7 supported in bearings resiliently mounted on a main frame 3; the latter is resiliently mounted on a base 4 by springs. The screen boxes are balanced, if necessary by means of counterweights, with respect to the driving shaft, and the masses of both boxes and their counterweights, if provided, are substantially equal. As shown, the boxes are displaced by 180 degrees and are maintained parallel during their oscillation by additional support shafts 7a in bearings 8. Shafts 7a are driven from the shaft 7 by a toothed belt or chain 11. Instead of the additional shafts, springs may be provided between the screen boxes and the main frame; the latter may be additionally oscillated by a separate drive. In Fig. 5, the screens are located at the bottom of their boxes, and counterweights 12, 13 in the form of cover plates are provided. The screen surface may be provided by a number of adjacent vertical plates with cylindrical projections extending therefrom on each side. A screen scraper band may be employed to loosen the material to be screened.
