Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A screen line comprises vibrating screens a, b, c, Fig. 1, each having a base frame 3 and a screen frame 5 with a perforated bottom 8. A cross member 7, Fig. 5, is mounted on each screen frame transverse to the direction of flow of material over the screen line and storage springs are provided in two side plates on each base frame engaging the crossmember. The screen frames are coupled by members 21 which permit tilting of the frames at different angles to the horizontal. As described, an unbalanced pulley 6 is provided, on one of the screens, driven on a shaft 10 by a motor and belt 24, 25. The cross member is mounted by storage springs 4 in the side plates 11 of the base frame 3, so that it can be tilted by adjustment of bearing beds 15. Vibration of the perforated bottom 8 is superimposed on the resonance vibration of the base frame 3 and screen frame 5 by plate springs 9 whose number may be varied to adjust the vibrating properties. In operation, the drive shaft 10 is rotated and with it a disc 18 with cams 19 interacting with a cam 20 on the perforated bottom 8, so that the bottom undergoes a positive vibration whose frequency and amplitude is determined by the number and shape of the cams and the speed of the shaft. The common resonance vibration is provided by the unbalanced pulley 6. Alternatively separate drives may be provided.
