Abstract

689,917. Screening apparatus. ALDRIDGE & RANKIN, Ltd., ALDRIDGE, F. D.. and GREEN, R. W. Nov. 1, 1951 [Oct. 5. 1650], No. 24349/50. Class 117 [Also in Group XXX] A screening apparatus for coke &c. is mounted on a self-propelled vehicle, the power unit of which is arranged to drive an elevator and one or more vibratory grading screens. As shown, the vehicle power .unit 1 includes a transverse power take-off shaft 6. A girder framework 9 ... 13, 20 supports an elevator driving shaft 15 driven through spur gearing 40 and chain 45 from a lay shaft 38 driven by belt 42 from shaft 6. The lower shaft 16 of the belt or chain and bucket elevator is carried in bearings 17 in the side walls of a loading trough 19 which is pivotally supported by trunnions 22 and adjustable links 23, by which the tension of the elevator chain may be varied. Coke from the elevator is delivered through shoot 31 on to the screening apparatus. A pair of vibratory screens are suspended by inclined resilient links 24. Each screen comprises a main frame 26, 26a and a screen frame 27, 27a, supported beneath the former by means of springs 28 and links 29 the pivots 30 of which are so disposed as to cause the material to travel from left to right. Beneath the screens 27, 27a are shoots 32, 33 respectively delivering the screened coke on the left and right sides of the vehicle. The remaining coke is discharged in front of the vehicle, if desired through a shoot. For vibrating the screens, a transverse shaft 34 is belt-driven from the lay shaft 3 and is provided with cranks or eccentrics coupled by connecting rods 33 to the frames 26, 26a. The power unit may also drive crushing apparatus supported adjacent to the lower end of the elevator.
