566,491. Sorting rivets; sifting apparatus. ROE & CO., Ltd., A. V., WAINMAN, T., BUCKLEY, H. I., DAVIES, R. P., THISTLETHWAITE, H., and GREAVES, A. B. June 10, 1943, No. 9351. [Class 117] Rivets are graded according to the.size and shape of their heads by a rotating drum consisting of bars d parallel with its axis, and formed of wedge shape with the base of the wedge facing inwards. The rivets which fall through the slots between the bars are collected in a tray b; those whose stems only pass into the slots are carried around till they drop into a receptacle c supported inside the drum, a wiper j and plate k assisting this operation ; and those too large to be dealt with in either of the preceding ways collecting in the drum and being discharged periodically by hinged flaps i into a tray m. The inner faces of the bars may have a hardened wearing plate, and the drum is mounted on rollers carried by shafts, one of which is driven. The drum may be constructed so as to allow adjustment of the bar spacing.
