Abstract
719,988. Sifting apparatus. MASSEY-HARRIS, Ltd. Oct. 12, 1953 [Oct. 11, 1952], No. 25516/52. Class 117 [Also in Group XXX] An oscillating screening unit comprises a plurality of trough-shaped screens A, B pivoted at a, b, respectively, and connected together in two sets of alternate screens by arms a<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>1</SP>, respectively, to common connecting rods such as A' for links a'. The connecting rods are reciprocated by links such as A<SP>2</SP> pivoted on crank arms such as D<SP>1</SP> having adjustable pivot pins d, the two crank arms being mounted on a driving shaft D at 180 degrees to each other, so that as screens A rise, screens B fall and vice versa. Material from a receptacle E is fed to the first screen A and proceeds to the other end of the unit by being thrown from one screen to the next and so on, the material which passes through the perforated bottoms of the screens falling into receptacles E' and the residue being ejected into receptacle E<SP>2</SP>.
