Abstract
483,501. Grinding, crushing, &c. machines. SCHIEFERSTEIN, G. H. Oct. 24, 1936, No. 28933. [Class 59] [Also in Groups XXI, V, X, and XXII] A machine for crushing coal or other materials comprises two oscillating masses connected by energy storing means such as springs or rubber members, an actuating device loosely coupled to one of the oscillating masses and mounted, if possible, at the neutral point or oscillation node of the system. The whole machine is preferably suspended or supported on weak springs. In a, ramming machine, a mass 1, Fig. 1, and a heavier mass 2 are connected by springs 3, and a plate 4 is connected to the springs 3 so that its distances from the masses 1 and 2 are inversely proportional to the masses and carries a motor 5 which, by means of an eccentric, a connecting rod 6 and a spring 7, causes the mass 1 to oscillate. The machine may be suspended from a crane by springs attached to the mass 2 or to the plate 4, and the motor may be hung from the plate 4 by springs. Fig. 11 shows a crushing machine, mounted on springs 29, in which rammers 1 are suspended by springs 3 from a mass 2a which is oscillated by a rod 6 and spring 7.
