Balancing moving parts. -In a rotary engine or the like of the kind having a piston cylinder b mounted on an eccentric i so as to oscillate round a fixed inner cylinder c through which passes an abutment to divide the working space a weight is so arranged that the centre of gravity of the whole of the oscillatory masses is situated in the axis of the engine shaft. The balancing weight may be carried on an arm f on the engine shaft so that its centre of gravity s<2> lies in the plane of the centre of gravity s<1> of the moving parts, Fig. 2, and as shown in Fig. 3, may be divided but is then arranged so as to produce no tilting moment, part s<2> being carried on an arm g and part s<3> on the flywheel.
