Abstract

261,209. Holmes, J. R. Dec. 22, 1925. Opening by tearing; with air &c. holes adapted to be permanently sealed. -An aperture d, Fig. 5, in a metal container is closed by soldering thereover a compound piece, Fig. 3, composed of a perforated disc b soldered to a tab a adapted to be torn away therefrom to open the container. Soft solder is used to secure the parts a, b together, and a harder solder for securing the part b to the container. The invention is applicable particularly for sealing containers for life-buoy lights, such as are described in Specification 127,796, [Class 77, Life-saving &c.].
