Abstract

194,678. Conley Foil Co., (Assignees of Conley, E. J.). March 10, 1922, [Convention date]. Sealing-devices for stoppers and other closures. -A sheet-metal receptacle is hermetically sealed by means of thin foil of the same metal as the receptacle, or the coating thereof if such is present, the foil being secured in place by fusing it to the receptacle without the employment of solder or flux. Where the receptacle is provided with a flanged lid, a strip 4 of thin metal foil is fused to the body, either as indicated at 5, 6, Fig. 1<A>, or at 7, 8, Fig. 2<A>. Fig. 3 shows a tin having a mouth flange 10 to which is fused at 12 a covering sheet 11 of thin foil; the tin may be. provided with a cover if desired. Specification 173,783, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.], is referred to.
