Abstract
602,325. Cans. CONTINENTAL CAN CO., Inc. Jan. 16, 1945, No. 1301. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1944. [Class 66] A sheet metal can opened by tearing out a rip-strip from the wall 3, has an internal collar 12 which may be oversized and force-fitted, or fit loosely, located by a bead 5 to cover the region of the rip-strip and extend well above it so that after opening it may receive the top 10. The collar, rolled over at 15, is secured by indentations 13 pressed in after positioning it in the can body. The side is hook-seamed at 2 inside the can, at 4 outside the can and lapped at 3 in between.
