674,349. Cans opened by tearing. ERNST & CO. Jan. 30, 1950 [Jan. 28, 1949]. No. 2315/50. Class 66. The rim 4 of a non- ioxidising sheet metal container or can 2 is turned to project outwardly and downwardly to receive a press-on cover or lid 3, a depending flange 5 of which is scored at 8 for tearing by grasping a tag-end and is bent inwardly below the scoring line 8 which line is at the same level as the outer edge of the rim 4 so that the cover may be re-applied after opening. Rubber 9 hermetically seals the can.
