637,454. Cans &c. opened by tearing. BRUDER, K. May 27, 1947, No. 14125. Convention date, May 24, 1946. [Class 66] A seamed-on lid 3, for a preserve &c. container 1, whose margin may be torn off around a score line 9 underneath the lid by pulling a tab 4, has a cut 5 leading into the score line 9 from a point near the edge of the lid or tab. The cut may be lengthwise of the tab and the width a of the bridge between the outer end of the cut and the edge of the tab may be 1 mm. The score line 9 may fit against the rim 6 of the container and the lid may be secured thereto by a doublerolled seam. The bridge is the first to be torn when the tab 4 is pulled.
