Abstract
521,399. Cans, drums &c. ROSE, N. B. W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 14, 1938, No. 33111. [Class 66] [Also in Group XXII] The dished end 3, Fig 1, of a metal drum or can is formed with an outwardly directed flange 4 narrower than the flange 2 at the mouth of the container, and is secured in position by folding together flange 2 and the flange 6 of a sealing ring 5 into the form shown in Fig. 2. The ring 5 may be endless and weakened or scored or it may be in divided form with the ends overlapping. To open the container in the construction shown it is cut or torn at the edges 8, 9, the intervening area being stripped away. Specification 102,860, and 286,364, [both in Class 66], are referred to.
