Abstract

393,145. Lids for cans &c. GRANT, BOUTLE, & CO., Ltd., H., Riley Street, Tower Bridge, and BENNETT, H., J., 6, Melgund Road, Highbury, both in London. Sept. 15, 1932, No. 26707. [Class 125 (iii).] A lever lid for a can &c. is provided with a sealing cap engaging in a recess in the lid and secured held in position at its outer margin by means engaging the can under the upper seam, one or more entry slots being left between the cap and the top of the can &c. for levering up the cap. As shown, the cap 1 is of annular form, having an inner beaded flange 2 and, depending from the flange 4, outer hook members 4 which are sprung over the can seam 6. Gaps 9 are left between the members 4a and for removal of the cap a coin may be inserted therein between the flange 4 and the seam 6, the cap bending as shown at weakened places 8, at which places may be positioned beads which crack and indicate that the seal has been removed.
